Dr. Manu M Joseph

He joined the group on 1st April 2015 as a Post-doctoral fellow. He completed his B.Sc from Bangalore University and M.Sc from Mahatma Gandhi University. He did his PhD in Biochemistry at the Division of Cancer Research, Regional Cancer Centre (University of Kerala) Thiruvananthapuram, under the guidance of Dr. T.T. Sreelekha. His earlier research interest includes fabrication and detailed biological evaluation of polysaccharide based nanoparticles as a powerful tool in the management of cancer, green synthesis of metal nanoparticles with promising biomedical applications using non-toxic immunostimulatory polysaccharides. presently he focused on cancer cell and cancer stem cell targeted drug delivery systems, mechanistic aspects in cellular studies using SERS for in vivo bio-distribution profiling. Also explored on fluorescent imaging with various molecular probes and molecular mechanistic studies of natural product derivatives.

She joined the group on 23rd May 2018 as Research associate. She completed her MSc. from Mahatma Gandhi University and did her PhD in Immunology from Amala Cancer Research Centre, Thrissur (University of Calicut) under the guidance of Dr. Girija Kuttan. Her previous area of research includes the use of immunomodulatory natural products to restrain tumour progression in metastatic melanoma and breast cancer models using in vivo and in vitro systems. Presently she is working on the development of SERS mediated breast cancer biomarker detection techniques.

She joined the group as CSIR-RA on 24th April 2019. She had completed her PhD from the same group in November 2018. Her current research interest on synthetic/nano targeted drug delivery system development for cancer drugs and synthesis of small molecules and peptides.

She joined this group on February 2014. She had completed her B.Sc Botany and Biotechnology from Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara affiliated under Kerala University and M.Sc Biotechnology from School of Biosciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. She has previous experience at Rubber Research Institute of India, Kottayam, trainee experience in Biotech Industrial Training Programme at Biozeen, Bangalore and also at Department of Infectious Diseases, MGM Institute of Research, MGM Medical College & Hospital, Navi Mumbai. She completed PhD in Biological Sciences from this group in topic “Development of Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering Based Diagnostic Platform for Cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease”. Her expertise includes techniques in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Nanotechnology, Tissue culture, Cell culture and Biopharmaceutical production. She has proficiency in SERS nanoprobe development for biomarkers in cervical cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer and also neurodegenerative disorder Alzheimer’s disease. Currently she is working on chemistry biology interface development for medical diagnostics in our group using surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy.

She joined this group on March 2014. She had completed her B.Sc from Kannur University and M.Sc from Amritha Vishwa Vidyapeedam . Her current research interest includes design and synthesis of different molecular probes and nanocarrier systems for therapeutic applications. Currently she is working on chemistry biology interface aiming to develop different theragnostic probes with the aid of Raman spectroscopy.

Her current research interest on synthetic modification of bioactive compounds isolated from natural products and detailed investigation of in vitro and in vivo assays and transforming them into potential hits towards anti-cancer, anti-diabetic therapeutic area.

Before joining this group, she worked as a project assistant in IISc Bangalore and worked in the area of cancer biology. She is currently pursuing PhD in Biological Sciences from this group. Her area of interest includes diagnostic nanoprobe development based on Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) technique for detection of biomarkers in thyroid cancer and glioblastoma.
